As both an artist and a teacher my goal is to support you in making art your way - with confidence, ease and fulfilment. I believe in encouragement and freedom of self-expression. My objective is to make you feel safe and enthused to discover and develop your own artistic and creative gifts.

My approach is to simplify and have fun. There is so much information available to us as artists but it is sometimes overwhelming. I see my job as simplifying this information, breaking it down and making it easier to remember. I do this through demonstrations, presentations, exercises, handouts and giving my students plenty of time to paint. I consider it a privilege to pass on what I know about painting and drawing.

I offer classes and one day workshops in my home town of Wymondham in Norfolk, also demonstrations and workshops for art groups across the UK.

Regular Classes

These classes are temporarily suspended to allow everyone to follow the government's advice regarding Covid 19 and social distancing.

My painting classes meet once a week on Friday mornings and are suitable for  of any level. The programme is designed to suit both the student who needs structure and the student who likes some freedom in their painting. My philosophy is ‘less is more’:

  • Fewer brushes for livelier, quicker painting.

  • Fewer paints for easy, straightforward colour mixing.

  • Fewer techniques for optimal results.

But that doesn’t mean I ignore the basic fundamentals and principles of art upon which all good painting should be based. These foundations underpin all my teaching. If you want to paint portraits, abstracts, still life or landscapes, the same foundations apply; they will give you a solid basis for anything you choose to paint, regardless of subject or medium

Each class is limited to twelve students and is taught on a 'one to one' basis dependent on the student's needs.
